Walking with Jesus-Interactive Stations of the Cross
25 Mar, 2026
For the second year, as part of their Lenten journey, the St. Dominic 5th and 6th graders presented an Interactive Stations of the Cross, offering a meaningful and prayerful experience for our school community. The boys presented each station as participants walked through and completed the activity or elements prepared.
Stations included activities and elements such as dipping hands in red paint, feeling nails, making a crown with toothpicks to represent thorns, writing down prayers, and saying prayers. It was a powerful, engaging experience for our students, faculty and families!
We asked Mrs. Mary Bolton, 5th/6th grade religion teacher, a few questions to better understand the presentation, and this is what she shared:
How would you explain the purpose of Interactive Stations?
The purpose of Interactive Stations of the Cross is to experience the stations with visual, sensory, meditative, and interactive elements. This allows participants to actively engage with the final hours of Jesus' life, making the Stations more memorable and personally meaningful.
What do the boys have to do to prepare?
When the boys first receive their Station assignment, they discuss with their group how they will present the station. Then, they practice it with their partner, followed by a practice with their materials. Finally, the boys present in our classroom just as they will on the actual day of the Staions. Afterwards, the boys have a couple of lessons where we dive a little deeper together into the Stations.
How do you see them impacted by their preparation?
I remind the boys that this is a prayerful experience and a time to connect with our faith and Jesus' path to Calvary. We also discuss how we are presenting this to other students who also want to share in this experience. With this knowledge, the boys are serious about their job and understand the importance of what they are doing.
What do you hope our community gets from this experience?
Based on my experience last year, people were deeply moved by the stations. It brought joy to my heart knowing that we were able to bring something to our community that helped people connect with their faith and have a deep understanding of Jesus' death and Resurrection. I also hope it shows our boys' dedication to sharing this experience with others.
Thank you to Mrs. Bolton and our 5th & 6th grade Suns for sharing this beautiful experience with us all during Lent. This is just what we all needed as we prepare to enter Holy Week next week!
